Slice is a product of over a decade of research and development by a multicultural team of experts from different technological, social and business backgrounds. The initial idea came from sheer necessity, as the concern for data and communication privacy rose over the past decade, the trust we had in conventional means of communication diminished proportionally. As much as claims on privacy protection are all around us, with a little research the illusion comes crumbling down and we realize how exposed we truly are.
The common practice of developing software with pre designed recycled infrastructure unveils a web of redundancies and exploitable code whose transparency has been lost to countless iterations and generations of arbitrary implementation. We sought to turn that around by introducing a piece of software built on proprietary architecture, designed for the fast approaching future. The entirety of the code was written from the ground up, without the usage of any third party or legacy code, which allowed us to make SLICE more optimized for modern computing systems, impervious to all known vulnerabilities, and equipped with contemporary security features, making SLICE one’s own self sustainable digital fortress of communication working autonomously from any operating system.
With privacy and security at the very core of our creed, we incorporated our legal entity within the EU, as well as made it home to our data storage facilities, making us exempt from well known data surveillance laws or directives. This comes with the vision of supporting Europe’s efforts towards digital independence and promoting digital sovereignty of every individual and business within it and outside of it. Thus making SLICE a tool fit for our needs and suitable for diverse applications.
